Tuesday, 09 October 2012 - Asha Bhosle's Daughter commits suicide -

The daughter of well known singer Asha Bhosle ,Varsha Bhosle committed suicide at her residence in Mumbai today. She shot herself to death at her Mumbai based Peddar road residence Prabhu Kunj. She was a divorcee. She shot herself in her head and the police said that the weapon belonged to her brother i.e Asha Bhosle's younger son.

During the time of this incident, Asha Bhosle was not in India. She was in Singapore. Her aunt Lata Mangeshkar was also not in her residence. Varsha was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead. Varsha had a troubled married life. She was divorced from freelance sports writer Hemant Kenkre and reportedly had a history of depression,She tried committing suicide by taking sleeping pills but the attempt failed.Born in 1956, Varsha was a freelance journalist who had worked with leading dailies as a columnist. She also worked as a playback singer in Hindi and Marathi movies and also appeared in concerts along with her mother.She wrote columns for Gentleman magazine ,Rediff, and The Sunday Observer in 1993. She also wrote a little for the Times of India.
