Back To The Pavilion :

Looks like we wont be seeing Jagan out in the open for some more time as, the Supreme Court on Friday rejected his bail petition in connection with his alleged illegal assets case filed by the CBI.

A division bench of the Supreme Court comprising of Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai and Justice Aftab Alam were in agreement with the CBI that Jagan could influence the witnesses and tamper with the evidences, if he was given bail, as the case was still under investigation. The CBI counsels – Mr.Ashok Bhan and Mr. Mohan Parasaran told the court that the agency had so far found Rs 40,000 crore worth irregularities in his case and it would take them at least another three months to bring everything out into the open.

While on the other hand Jagan’s counsel Gopal Subrahmanyam was stating that there was no evidence of Jagan tampering with the evidences so far; since he had already been in jail for the past four months there was no chance of his influencing the witnesses. He alleged that the CBI had filed false case against Jagan.

While ,The Supreme Court bench, on the other handhowever, felt that there was enough evidence in the CBI charges. The judges could not underst how Jagan could earn thousands of crores within such a short period, and why the companies that had invested in his companies had bought shares at such high prices. As a result the bench refused to grant the bail to Jagan till the investigation is not completed.
